Welcome back to part 2 of Take Back Your Life. Hopefully by now you have had a chance to sit down and make a list of all the things that you are doing and have going on in your life at the present time. Since writing the first post I have received many emails sharing about how timely this post was and for that I am grateful. Thank you.
Today I want to focus on the next three phases of taking back your busy life. I must warn you, though, there is a catch and this is where I may lose some of you. The catch is, what I am about to share is not easy to do. It requires some work on your part; it also requires some soul searching but probably most of all it requires you to be completely honest with yourself.
Still with me? Great, let’s move forward:
4. There are some things on the list that you made that are taking you away from the most important people and things in your life. My suggestion is to either find a way to cut some of those areas out or get creative in how you spend your time. This could mean making some real sacrifices in your life.
5. Maybe you are like me and what you realized is the busyness of life is a way to avoid doing some personal work that really needs to be done. Is it possible that you have been carrying around some baggage that you should have dealt with years ago? The problem with past baggage is that until you face it and decided to work through it you will continue to be stuck in what I call a vicious cycle. Find a quiet area, figure out what this baggage is and deal with it. Told you it’s not easy.
6. Last one for the day. While you are working on or thinking about number five, give yourself a little grace. Sometimes we have to be reminded that we aren’t perfect and NO ONE expects you to be, however we seem to put that expectation on ourselves. Go for a walk and get away from it all for a few minutes. Life does not have to be that hard.
I realize the items that I listed above may be difficult and I know that they are not something that can be accomplished in a day or two. Think about this, your life didn’t get so busy and chaotic overnight. Therefore taking back your life is not going to happen overnight. I would love to hear about some of the things that you are working on in your life and how I might be able to help. Shoot me an email to email@example.com, or comment below.
