Most often, when we hear the word ‘pruning’ we think of flowers or trees and the need to cut off the dead branches. One of my clients recently shared with me that she feels like God has been pruning her and it hurts because her relationships, business and faith are all being affected.
She’s right. Pruning does hurt. The fact is, change is not easy and God never said that living a life pleasing to Him would be either.
Maybe you’re going through some things right now and have wondered why it feels like you’re walking through the desert, all alone with nowhere to turn. It very well may be that God is pruning you, too. Rather than run further away, its time to embrace this season.
I want to share 3 tips on pushing through this difficult period in your life;
- Don’t stop! Keep pressing forward and no matter how tough it is, how emotional or how lonely you might get, DON’T STOP!
- Seek out a Godly coach or mentor! This is not the time to attempt to go through something like this alone. A coach or mentor can hold you accountable and push you when you need to be pushed.
- Embrace the changes! I have seen so many people begin to make some very positive changes in their lives, only to fall backwards because change can be so difficult. Don’t allow self-sabotage to beat you up any longer. Embrace the changes.
Your future is a blank canvas just waiting to be painted. You can sit back and allow life to come at you and be reactive or you can be proactive. While you are in this pruning season, allow God to begin to open your eyes to the life He created you to live.
